17th Annual Cobscook Bay 10K/5K/Fun Run for Down East Hospice

7 June 2008

Total number of participants (all races): 115

Three course records were set today. In the 1-mile Fun Run, ten-year-old Lucia Aretakis broke (her) 2007 course record with a 7:10 mile; in the 5K Run, Thomas Beckum took exactly one minute off the 1999 record with a 16: 48; and in the 10K Run, standout distance runner Judson Cake took more than one minute off the 1993 record previously held by Steve Carle, with his blistering 33:04. Only last month Judson Cake, a Bar Harbor resident, won the Sugarloaf Marathon in 2:23, just a few minutes short of the men’s U.S. Olympic Trials qualifying time. Look for Judson in 2012!
